Cat Visiting Services

Spending time with your cat is an important part of my service. I aim to stay on average for 10-15mins per visit.  However, due to unforeseen circumstances, visits may be less than that. Any shortfall will be made up during another visit if the schedule permits. It may not be possible to arrive at your requested time of visit due to existing schedule constraints. Visits are grouped together to maximise on efficiency when out and about. Morning visits outside of Chorleywood are usually after 10am. Evening visits are made between 4-6pm. Weekend visits start from 9am. Visits on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and the Easter weekend may last only 5 minutes due to high demand. In the event of serious bad weather (ie. snow), every attempt will be made to complete the visit. You will be contacted immediately if there are any issues. Foreseen weather events can be planned for with additional food and trays in case the roads are inaccessible.

Food, Bedding & Litter

All tinned, packet, fresh and dry food, hay and bedding must be provided in clearly labelled bags or containers to last the duration of the cat visiting service. Please ensure there is adequate spare cat litter plus scoop and poop bags. Also, leave a brush for daily grooming if required. Lastly, please provide a cloth, tea towel and kitchen towel for use to clear up any fur balls or little accidents. Any used food packets will be rinsed to avoid smells developing whilst you’re away. Any additional items purchased for your pet will be charged at retail cost and added to your final balance.

Travel Expenses

For cat visits more than 4 miles from WD3 5EY a travel fee of £1.50 per mile will charged in addition to the standard visit fee for 2-4 miles.

Distances are calculated using Google Maps via the most direct route from WD3 5EY to your door/post code. 

Key Collection, Return & Holding

Key collection (if not provided during the consultation) has a fee of £5. Alternatively, feel free to drop/collect them when passing through Chorleywood. The address can be provided on request. Keys are retained after the last visit, unless agreed beforehand, in case return dates change. The keys are then posted through in a sealed envelope within 3 days of informing Karen that you are back home. Keys can be held for regular clients in the event our services are required frequently or in short notice.

Payment Information

A 50% deposit will be required to secure your dates when engaging ‘Karen’s Cat Care’ to look after your pets. The outstanding balance must be paid at least 3 days before the care service is due to start. Payments can be made by electronic bank transfer or cash. Please note, there is an additional charge for any visits before 8am and after 6pm. 

CANCELLATIONS – The deposit will be refunded if the booking is cancelled more than 21 days before the care service is due to commence. The deposit will not be refunded if the booking is cancelled within 5-21 days prior to the commencement date. The full amount of the booking will not be refunded if cancelled within 0-5 days prior to the commencement date. Karen’s Cat Care reserves the right to cancel any bookings with 14 days notice; all deposits will be refunded. 

PEAK HOLIDAYS – All Bank Holiday weekends (Sat-Mon) are charged at the standard rate plus 30%. School half terms and end of term holidays (Easter & Christmas) are charged at the standard rate plus 15%. Bookings from December 27th-31st will be charged at standard rates plus 30% with Christmas Day, Boxing Day, & New Years Day at plus 75% and all four days of the Easter weekend at plus 75% rate.  All deposits during peak holidays are non-refundable under any circumstances. 

On Your Return

Please contact ‘Karen’s Cat Care’ via text, phone or email when you arrive home.  Karen will continue visits until contact has been made ensuring your pet is fed until you return. Please contact Karen as soon as possible if your return date changes. Follow up visits are charged at the standard daily rates for your location.  Keys are then posted through your door within three days of your return.

Emergency Vet Care

Every attempt will be made to contact you on the numbers/email provided should a problem arise whilst you’re away. If you are unreachable then we reserve the right to seek veterinary care without your consent either with your local vet whose info you provide us with, or our local Chess Vets in Chorleywood.  Any fees will be charged to you and must be paid as per the vet’s timescale. Emergency vet visits will be charged at £25 per hour (additional to vet bills) to cover the time supporting your pet. Please ensure a cat/pet carrier is available for use. 

Social Media

Photos are taken of your pet throughout your trip to reassure you of their welfare. Unless stated otherwise at the beginning of the service contract, Karen’s Cat Care is permitted to post photos of your pet on the Karen’s Cat Care Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. The photos will always be a close up image of your pet. No personal objects or other identifying background will be in the photos. Karen’s Cat Care will also publicly display any testimonials on the Karen’s Cat Care website and social media websites unless otherwise discussed.

Family Business

On the rare occasion that Karen is not able to attend a visit, Karen’s husband or trusted friend will do so on her behalf. Of course, you will be consulted on this matter.
